Dan Gilbert, author of Stumbling on Happiness, challenges the idea that we are miserable if we have what we want. Our “psychological immune system” makes us feel truly happy even if things go as planned!
I think most of personasque vehemently oppose this video should consider the difference between happiness and true joy. These are very different. Happiness comes and goes. It has more to do with situations and may be “manipulated” by our own minds. I am able with my willingness to look positive and I’m happy now. Joy, by contrast, is much deeper and less of the situation. Not easily shaken by unexpected circumstances change and unfortunate. I believe that assessment of Mr. Gilbert’s wonderful regard to happiness and we prepare ourselves to think more positively about our current situation.
